Personal	Dave has been married to Rosanne for more 44 years. They have five children and five grandchildren. The Racers live in St. Paul, Minnesota.
Primary Occupation: Author - Publisher Editorialist	Dave has authored, co-authored, edited, or ghostwritten 30 books. Most of these can be found at Alethos Press. Eight of these books are related to health care issues. He is working on a new book -- always. Prior to the days of blogging, Dave wrote dozens of editorials on government , education, moral issues -- a broad range of issues -- at Dave's Editorials. Dave blogs about government and culture as America's Civics Teacher, about health care redesign as The COHR Man, and discusses his faith at Dave's Faith Stories.
Businessman	He owns a small publishing company: Alethos Press LLC, formed in 1999 and a communications company - DGRCmmunications, Inc., founded in 2010. From 1974 to 1983, Dave owned and operated two ServiceMaster franchises, and grew to be the second largest franchise in Minnesota. He sold those franchises and they are still in operation today. From 1984 to the present, Dave has operated as an independent businessman managing several projects. These included the national management of a national Presidential campaign. In 1996 he founded The Declaration Foundation with Dr. Alan Keyes. Dave turned over The Declaration Foundation to Keyes’ Washington, D.C.-based group in 1998. Other business ventures have included the publication of a Minnesota newspaper, a Twin Cities talk radio show, and serving as a consultant to numerous political campaigns. He currently serves as a consultant to the Minnesota Association of Health Underwriters on health insurance and political matters. Mostly, Dave writes....books, papers, articles, blogs.... and speaks.
Political Veteran	Dave served as the National Campaign Manager for Alan Keyes for President '96, Inc. He is a four-time GOP endorsed candidate for the Minnesota Legislature. He has consulted to four gubernatorial campaigns (managed one) and numerous state house and senate campaigns. The Reform Party of Minnesota elected Dave as its chairman in April, 2000. He has been a delegate to GOP conventions at every level, including the 1996 Republican National Convention in San Diego, California. He served as a delegate to the 2000 Reform Party USA Convention. He has served as a GOP party officer at the precinct and house district level.
Teacher	Dave teaches two classes for the YEAH Academy. American Government—For Real: viewing government through the eyes of American’s Founding Fathers and all the facets of modern governance and politics. The second class is Student Senate, where home school’s brightest high schoolers come together and studies and debates several critical issues. The Student Senators write at least one bill on each subject and attempt to pass them. Both of these courses are offered during a 15 week semester.
Radio Commentator	Racer's talk radio show, appropriately named The Dave Racer Show was heard on AM 980 KKMS in the Twin Cities from 1997-2001, but originated in 1990 on WTCN Radio in Stillwater, Minnesota. Also broadcast weekdays, from 2-5 p.m. on AM 1070 KMOM, in Monticello, Minnesota. Dave is a frequent guest on numerous national and local talk shows. He wrote and produced more than 230 :60-second “Declaration Minutes” for Alan Keyes nationally syndicated talk radio show, America’s Wake Up Call.
Speaker	Dave has spoken and taught in more than 25 states, about health care and insurance redesign, the Declaration and Constitution, and a broad range of issues of freedom and liberty. As a veteran of fiscal conservative political battles, Dave addresses the impact of politics and culture on businesses and job creation. As a "Declarationist," he addresses contemporary issues from an historical perspective. He has spoken for a variety of professional groups: physicians and surgeons, universities, chambers of commerce, professional insurance agents, business groups -- as well as Rotary, Kiwanis, Sertoma, Lions, Optimists, churches, graduations and numerous political events.
Church Service	Dave is a lay preacher and a very active member of the music program at First Evangelical Free Church, in Maplewood, Minnesota. For a dozen years, Dave sang in a Gospel quartet, Four Free Men. Dave has also served his church as Chairman and taught adult and college age Sunday School. He served on the board of the 1999 and 2000 St. Paul Prayer Breakfasts, and formerly, on the Board of the St. Paul Association of Evangelicals, and of a local Christian Businessman's Committee.
Civic Affiliations	Dave currently is a member of the Board of Directors of the Minnesota Physician and Patient Alliance, a member of the National Association of Health Underwriters, and the National Federation of Independent Businesses. Dave is the founding President of The Declaration Foundation. He served as the President (former Chairman of the Board and President) of The Constitution Educational Foundation. Dave served as a consultant to the Ikemba Foundation, a non-profit group seeking to raise funds to build a medical facility in Awka, Anambra State, Nigeria. Dave was the Executive Director of Minnesota Proposition 180 Degrees, a small business advocacy group, during the mid-1980s. He also served the same position with the Minnesota Employers' RoundTable.
Military & Educational Background	Dave holds a Master of Letters Degree from Oxford Graduate School. He wrote his Masters Thesis on Comprehensive Health Care Reform. He majored in Educational Psychology (originally in Music Education) at the University of Southern Mississippi, the University of Minnesota and Macalaster College in St. Paul, Minnesota. Staff Sergeant Dave is a four-year Viet Nam era veteran of the United States Air Force, where he served as a program writer and classroom instructor. He graduated from John A. Johnson High School in 1965.
